Writing Her Success: Amy's KBI

Amy Sabeh is the Director of Global Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) at KBI Biopharma. In her role, she wears many hats and works across functions to enable and coordinate decision-making, ensuring our customers are satisfied and our business runs efficiently. Amy has taken her knowledge and recently co-authored her first book, a new comprehensive guide for implementing and optimizing S&OP processes. Her dedication and expertise not only drive KBI's success but inspire industry professionals seeking to enhance their S&OP strategies.  

Amy's book is titled Practical Guide to Sales & Operational Planning (S&OP/IBP) and she co-wrote it with Eric Wilson, an award-winning business planning innovator and author. It is published by the Institute of Business Forecasting and Planning (IBF), the leading training and certification provider in the fields of forecasting, demand planning, S&OP, and business analytics. The book covers all aspects of S&OP, from people and processes to analytics and metrics. It also highlights the importance of collaboration, consensus, and transparency in S&OP success. Additionally, with the support from the IBF, Amy and Eric were able to incorporate diverse perspectives from other S&OP thought leaders and practitioners to ensure their book captured a well-rounded view of the topic. Their book becomes available on the IBF website and Amazon in July. When asked how it feels to have her very first book published, Amy shared it's hard to describe. "The closest feeling I can think of is when I obtained my American Citizenship," she shared. "Both experiences made me feel free and empowered that we can all accomplish anything we put our mind to." 

Amy's contributions and affinity to the field of S&OP did not just start with her new book. She has always been globally minded and inspired by the ability to bridge the gap between execution and strategy. Born and raised in Morocco, Amy attended Al Akhawayn University and was influenced by the university's principles of diversity and an international outlook. There, she pursued a double major in finance and marketing, obtained a minor in communications, and pursued various internships. "My early experience made me realize the importance of global trade and the intricacies of all the things that have to take place behind the scenes to ensure that the goods are available on time for the customers," Amy shared. These experiences motivated Amy to pursue an MBA at the University of South Florida, where she double majored in Supply Chain Management and Marketing Strategy. This academic foundation paved the way for a career focused on strategy and planning.  

The COVID-19 pandemic was a turning point for Amy's career. "It made me realize that I wanted to be in an industry where I can positively impact people’s lives," she explained. Her research led her to the CDMO (Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization) industry and ultimately KBI. Amazed by the top-notch scientists at KBI and eager to bring her expertise from other best-in-class brands, Amy joined the organization in 2022. Since then, she has established and grown the global S&OP team. "Even if it is a relatively newly formed team, I especially enjoy seeing the positive impact the team has made," Amy said. She is currently excited about the advancements and automation her team has developed and continues to develop that extend their projections through advanced demand planning practices. 

Amy's commitment and hard work were recognized earlier when she was named KBI's 2024 Rising Star by the Healthcare Businesswomen's Association (HBA) at their HBA Woman of the Year Gala. The honor recognizes individuals’ outstanding performance, commitment to excellence, and valuable contributions to their companies’ success. "Receiving this award was humbling and a beautiful surprise," she explained. "It makes me want to continue to give KBI my unwavering commitment to continuously drive steady improvements."  

As Amy continues to make her mark at KBI and in the S&OP field, she remains focused on growth and challenging herself. "I am a firm believer that there should be no complacency once one’s efforts are publicly recognized," she affirmed. She remains dedicated to her work, supported by her colleagues, and inspired by her family and Moroccan roots. Amy's journey is a powerful example of how dedication, expertise, and a passion for impact can lead to extraordinary achievements.
